Spread Your Wings

Spread Your Wings

Blutrote Heidelibelle / Ruddy Darter - male
After a short night I got up quite early for dragonfly shooting - but nothing, absolutely nothing to capture... I didn`t see a single dragonfly. Maybe it is too warm these days, makes them spend the nights somewhere else?
Well, I used my lunchbreak to go there again and got at least one reasonable shot, which you can see here.
Don`t like the hard light and the reflections on the eyes, but at least it kept posing for second and allowed me to get this capture.

  • Excellent shot, the dragonfly is looking straight to my eyes!
Coincidence: i captured one too this morning. Interesting… :)

  • Stunning! The detail is incredible. I saw thousands of them today, but none of them would alight so I could get shots. They were busy catching the mosquitoes which were in abundance.

  • Another great shot, I like the DOF. Are you using extension tubes or is this just via the Sigma 150mm? Nice macro work.
